A portable power station is a lithium battery, an inverter, a charger and a set of outlets in one case. For a van it means no battery bay, no fuse block and no inverter to wire. We read 17 stations on four brand stores on November 7, 2026, from 256 Wh to 3,168 Wh.

How we compare: criteria, sources and dates
Capacity and output as published, often in the product name (BLUETTI and ALLPOWERS). Chemistry when the page states it. Price per kWh = price / published kWh [calc].
What to compare
- Wh, for how long it lasts: divide by your daily use (power budget).
- Output watts, for what it can start: a 1,800 W output (EcoFlow DELTA 3, BLUETTI Elite 100 V2, ALLPOWERS P1800, as published) is a different class from 300 W (ALLPOWERS VOLIX P300).
- Charging on the road: solar input and alternator chargers, see DC-DC and alternator chargers.
- Price per kWh: a power station costs more per kWh than a bare battery in our check, because the inverter and charger are inside. Compare with the battery comparison.
Station or house battery?
Choose a station if you want to carry it out of the van, avoid wiring, or power a small build. Choose a house battery if you need a large bank, a permanent fridge circuit, or solar and alternator charging into one system.
Inside a vehicle. Keep the station ventilated and away from heat, secure it so it cannot fly in a crash, and follow the manual's charging and temperature limits. Never run a fuel generator inside or next to a van to recharge it: carbon monoxide kills, and a working CO alarm is a must in any vehicle you sleep in.
Frequently asked questions
What size power station for van life?
Start from your daily watt-hours (power budget), multiply by the days between charges, and divide by the share of the battery you will use. A fridge at EcoFlow's published 165 Wh a day plus 200 Wh of lights and devices is 365 Wh a day [calc]: a 1,024 Wh station holds that for about two days at 80% usable [calc].
Can a power station run a 12V fridge?
Yes, from its 12V car outlet or its AC outlets. The 12V outlet avoids the inverter's losses. BougeRV sells a 266 Wh unit made for its fridges, with a DC output of "13V, 10A, 130W Max" and no AC outlet listed.
How do I charge a power station while driving?
From the 12V socket (slow), or with an alternator charger made for the station: EcoFlow sells an 800W Alternator Charger and BLUETTI the Charger 1, which "delivers up to 560W of power". Both need proper installation.
Are the struck-through prices real discounts?
They are the compare-at prices the stores displayed on November 7, 2026. We did not compute any discount and cannot tell how long the old price applied.
